Things should be jumpin' Saturday night at the El Campanil where Stompy Jones is bringing his act. These guys do great swing/early rock & roll and my wife and I are looking forward to a great show. You can check them out on their website or youtube clips.
Let's see...if I park the car on "G" Street between the El Campanil and Bases Loaded, we can walk to BL for an early dinner, walk down to catch the Stompy show, then stroll back to BL for a beverage and some more live entertainment. Good food, good entertainment, and a pleasant evening stroll to burn a few calories. Sure sounds better than planting myself in front of a TV or paying a small fortune to watch a half hour of commercials and movie trailers before the feature attraction at the local multiplex.

Yeah, Stompy looks good. If I can sneak away, I just might poke my head in there and check it out.
If you go to Bases Loaded to eat, there's a coupon on the El Campanil website if you click on the "Restaurants" tab for a free appetizer or dessert, one per table, with purchase of a entree. I can't link it here, so if that's too hard, you could probably just flash your El Campanil tickets and they would still honor it. Might as well take advantage of the offer if you are coupling Bases Loaded with Stompy Jones.
Be sure to ask what the 3 daily specials are. One night Patrick had a terrific sirloin steak topped with blue cheese and bacon that was mouthwatering, and yesterday I sampled his spicy Thai Shrmip Over Rice that was really tasty. The specials, a pasta, meat, and fish entree, are usually something beyond the usual sports bar or BBQ fare, if that's your thing, and the area where Patrick can exploit his fine dining background and talent.

Geez BJ, these old eyes could barely read that and it might have been important.

If your bud Stoney is a compensated spokesperson for your restaurant business he should consider putting a little disclaimer at the bottom of his posts.
You know like, "paid endorsement" or something. Or does he just get a free appetizer with his entree?
The last mass merchandiser on the forum was selling shoes and pissed everyone off. I think that’s why the Times decided to prevent external links.
It appears you are carrying on the same fine merchandizing technique with a new twist?
So, in the interest of fairness in advertising, I would like to take this opportunity to promote an under appreciated, but very appetite satisfiying dinner experience at Appleby's in beautiful Antioch.
Tell me, does that smack of too much "commercialism" on a forum dedicated to the free exchange of ideas? Just wondering?

Chewy, there is nothing wrong about individuals speaking up and supporting a local business. I'd bet that there are other businesses which wished they had the vocal support like stoney, myself and others have given to Bases Loaded.
Nice to see you compliment Applebees and I'll have to also give mention to a long time favorite of our family - Sizzlers

someone is feeling left out. I am going to go outside my city and recommend Harry's Hofbrau (The Carvery) on Lone Tree in Brentwood. Great family restaurant. I have not been to Bases Loaded yet only because I don't like watching TV and especially sports. But I do wish Terry all the luck in the world. Antioch will benefit from his dedication. There is a difference from recommending a business in your vicinity that you know others will enjoy and these businesses from china or wherever that flood the board.

We just got back from a great evening of entertainment. First dinner at Bases Loaded and then a fantastic show at the El Campanil. My wife and I both love music from that era; the swing music that transitioned between the big bands and boogie woogie. Stompy Jones puts on a great act and I had a hard time keeping my wife in her seat. She really wanted to get up and dance. They did have three couples up on stage in period dress who were professional dancers and it gave the aura of what it was like back then when people danced to juke boxes. The whole thing was a blast. We're really fortunate to have a beautiful place like the El Campanil to see acts like this. Rick has done a great job of offering a wide variety of entertainment and if you haven't been down there, you should check it out.

Fair enough. Trust you will mention other struggling entrepreneurs from the area, from time to time.
