Important special election in Northern California today Vote and urge your friends to vote for Congress by 8 p.m. today

SaveCalifornia.com does not support or oppose candidates for public office, and provides this information solely for educational purposes.

If you or someone you know lives in the northeast San Francisco Bay Area, vote and urge others to vote by 8 p.m. tonight for your next congressman. There is a big difference between the candidates.

In what used to be a solid Republican district held by Congressman Bill Baker, the 10th Congressional District has been held the last dozen years by Democrat Ellen Tauscher. She vacated the seat this summer to join the Obama Administration.

The expected low voter turnout means the winner will be whoever's supporters care more about the issues. It is they who are motivated to vote and get others to the polls.

So vote, and urge your family members, friends and church members to vote by 8 p.m. tonight if you live in these communities: Livermore, Antioch, Concord, El Cerrito, Lafayette, Moraga, Oakley, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Bethel Island, Kensington, Knightsen, Waldon, Isleton, Walnut Grove, Dixon, Fairfield, Suisun City, or Elmira.

The leading candidates are Lt. Governor John Garamendi and attorney David Harmer. Limiting information to what the candidates have on their websites, here is where they stand on the issues: John Garamendi | David Harmer.
